Meet the Characters
In order to actually work out what I want to do with my characters as well as how the storyboard should progress from my last post, I have decided that I want to make sure I know the relationships of these characters and what they're like first (alongside giving them names).
The first character I want to establish is the one seen driving and throwing the rock in the storyboard. I chose to essentially make him the "Ferris Bueller" of this story. I've settled on the name Robert Barons (Played by my good friend Alberto), which the other characters will refer to as Rob throughout the opening. John Hughes, the director of Ferris Bueller in an interview with VQR explained that the movie in itself centered around the importance of friendship, with Ferris being someone who is happy with his life going to far lengths for Cameron suffering from the opposite. It's this relationship that I want to portray in the opening of the film. I want Robert to be someone who is clearly in a happy position in his life and doesn't have a care in the world.
For the second main character, the one who's window is having rocks thrown at, I've decided to name him Joaquin Pentos (Likely played by me but not 100% sure), and he is the Cameron to Robert's Ferris. Essentially Joaquin is representing the typical stressed and anxious teen who can do nothing but worry about the test that they need to take the next day. This stress combined with Rob's carefree attitude defines the relationship that would play out through the rest of the film. He and Rob have likely separated a bit over time due to Joaquin's heavy focus on making sure to keep a high GPA and that would likely lead to him being frustrated over the rock throwing.
Finally the last main character is Cassandra Barons (Played by Alberto's sister Camila), who is referred to as Cass during the opening. She is essentially the little sister that Rob was forced to bring along through his adventure. She will likely be serving as the most logical and grounded character in the group, while Joaquin is worrying and Rob is having the time of his life, Cass will be the one to make sure they are doing nothing stupid and is the adult of the group while being the youngest.
Establishing these three gives me a lot more ideas on how the storyboard should proceed and there will likely be an updated post on it soon.
