Upload Failure

I spent all night up until 12:30am trying to embed my video into my blog yet everytime I tried to upload it wouldn’t work.  I also tried to embed yet that ended up not working either. Whenever I tried it says the video won’t work/won’t play. I’m still not sure what the issue is but the issue is happening for both the CCR and Opening videos. At this point I might have to completely rehollad the video yet i’m not even sure if that will work. I have searched online and it didn’t really turn up anything. I’ll keep trying until something works.

Sound the Alarm

Sound has been one of the most pressing issues for me moving forward with this project.  I had prior worked out the recording of audio by using phones at different points in these scenes but then I realized during editing the problems that this occurred.  Due to the alley next to my house having a generator the background hum of it could be heard louder in some audio clips and quieter in others.  This began to become a problem that puzzled me as audio would be perfect yet the background noise would be completely different from the prior clip.  Luckily, I managed to figure out a solution that balanced this issue.  Audacity. A blog titled Podfeet Podcasts gave a detailed step by step process on how to lower as well as eliminate background noise which I followed in order to finally put the infamous generator's buzz to rest. Another issue that was quickly resolved was the flicking through radio stations.  I wanted there to be a mix of radio talk as well as songs as Rob flicked throug

Scripts?

During the filming process of City Day I engaged in a constant battle with myself on how to approach the issue of dialogue.  I've never been a person of writing out scripts mostly because you can't expect someone to act well when pretending to be someone else.  So on the second night of filming in which most of the dialogue occurred I told Alberto and Ramiro to wing it and if not I would provide the dialogue.  This actually ended up working perfectly because of the chemistry between the two actors. Much like Joaquin and Rob, Ramiro and Alberto have both been best friends ever since fourth grade with personalities that completely clash with each other.  Ramiro tends to be very reserved and keep to himself while Alberto always wants to be doing something due to his highly energetic nature.  Knowing this, I told Ramiro to act as if Alberto actually were waking him up to go to Miami without all the cursing he normally would have used.  This led to a natural relationship being see

Filming Day 2

Day 2 of filming occured on 4/5 and was a tremendous success.  Everyone arrived on time at 8pm in order to emulate the same exact conditions that were set forth in our first filming session.  The first thing I tackled was reshooting any mistakes that had occured during the original filming session that occurred which including fixing the scene of the car driving up so that it is more visible within the seen and not seen as part of the background. We then moved on to work towards filming the next parts of the opening by the window to my room.  This scene was especially hard to film because we had to delicately balance positioning with lighting and angles in order to not only make characters visible but make the scene progress naturally.  The largest issue was getting Ramiro, the person playing Joaquin, to jump out of the second story window without breaking a bone.  We decided that we were going to use a cut in order to safely film the scene.  We first filmed Ramiro jumping out of the

Font Decisions

While editing on the plane I've come to the realization that I didn't even consider one of the first things that the audience sees, the credits.  I knew that I wanted to have the credits appear as the scene progressed but I never even thought about the font. My first thought was do I want it to be something simple and clean, or something that stands out and is different from the norm. From these two options I thought on the fonts  Playfair Display or Helvetica for the more plain and traditional option. I've also looked at something like Syncopate for a less traditional look. For now i'm just going to skip over that in order to focus on finishing up the rest of the clip. I will make sure to update once I make a decision. The blog Film Shortage made an interesting post that made me consider the importance of the font in the first place. It describes how making the first impression is crucial when it comes to having an audience enjoy a movie and the title itself i
